Networking/Workshops/Meetings

The Greater Cincinnati Mutual Funds Association, Inc. (GCMFA) includes professionals employed in the investment company/mutual fund industry as well as professionals serving this industry including accountants, attorneys, banks, custodians, transfer agents, etc. The purpose of this association is to organize a group to conduct and participate in conferences on investment company/mutual fund related matters and exchange ideas of both a national and local interest. Examples of some of the meetings, workshops and activities of the GCMFA over the past few years include:

  • Legal/Regulatory Workshops—roundtable discussions regarding current mutual fund legal and regulatory matters.
  • Accounting Workshops–roundtable discussions regarding current mutual fund accounting and tax matters.
  • Sales/Distribution Workshops—in this workshop, leading experts in sales and distribution provide timely discussions on current trends in distribution.
  • Compliance/Operations Workshops–roundtable discussions regarding current mutual fund compliance and operational matters.
  • Basic Mutual Fund Training–instructor-led training on the operations of a mutual fund. Topics include regulation, accounting, distribution, taxes, etc.
  • Annual Dinners–past featured speakers have included Meyrick Payne, Managing Partner of Management Practice, Inc. Neil Bathon, Founder of FUSE Network LLC, Roel Campos from Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP, Executive Director Susan Wyderko, Mutual Fund Directors’ Forum, consultant Geoffrey Bobroff, Bloomberg Editor-at-Large Thomas Keene, economist Joel Prakken, Congressman Rob Portman, Barry Barbash of the SEC,  Richard F. Hokenson, Chief Economist of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette; Don Phillips, Publisher, Morningstar; Ralph Acampora from Prudential Securities; and Matt Fink, President, Dan Crowley, Chief of Governmental Affairs, and Elizabeth Krenztmen, Chief Legal Counsel, Investment Company Institute.
  • Social Outings— Cincinnati Reds outing for members and guests.
